I ordered cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday. The ordering and pick up process was so easy ! TJ insured to ask questions to make sure we were on the same page. The cupcakes made the party perfect. They were delicious. I love ordering from proof to make an event extra special. The quality is excellent!

I have had many treats and goodies from TJ throughout the years, most of which I ate so fast I didn't get a picture, but the who photos I have included are from custom cakes she's done for my job over the years. TJ is an incredibly talented artist and baker and her creations always exceed my expectations for creativity and taste. Her unique creations are truly one of a kind that you cannot find anywhere else in the Starkville area. Her croissants are always perfectly buttery and crisp. The pain au chocolats are the perfect mix of sweet and savory. Her jammie bars and to die for. Her pear hasslebacks are divine and fruity. Her Faux-reos are like quadruple stuffed goodness.... I could go on and on about each individual item I've had because they are THAT memorable. If you've never been there, I HIGHLY encourage you to get out and support local bakeries and business because they are what keep Starkville unique and special.
Exploring Starkville a bit and one of the few places open on Friday evening, on an Easter weekend, was Proof Bakery. Checking it out was a must! So glad we did! The baked good are tasty, and the owner is an amazing person! You can buy in store or order online with curbside pickup!

Updates after 3 years (April 2023): This place has lots of addition to the menu and you can find new pastry almost every time you walk in. This time I had pizza bagel and a croissant with lavender feeling, which was delightful! Cute seatings for outside and inside. A little charm in Starkville! Original post (2020): Awesome new addition to Starkville! All the breads are delicious. Their menu varies depending the day so check the menu before you go. They don’t serve lunch menu on Tuesday, which I think needs to be clarified on the menu. I went on Tuesday after breakfast hour so they had bagels, scones, and cookies. Had two different flavors of bagel - both delicious with cream cheese! They have a toaster in the corner (next to coffee) if you like to toast your bagel which I did. C4 cookie was recommended and good. Hope they serve breakfast bagels during lunch time and add more variety of espresso (latte, cappuccino) in the near future too! Overall good experience. Friendly staffs too!
This is a hidden gem. Check their social Media and timing before you hit the place. They are not always open and runs out of stock quickly. So far I have tried their toasted ham and cheese ( topped with a fried egg), chocolate croissant, Swiss roll sandwich and truffles and loved everything. All the sweet stuff is not too sweet ( which I adore). I am definitely going back soon.
WOW was what we both said after just smelling the pastries as we walked in. The presentation and flavor were just as fantastic!! Comparable to (and possibly better than) the chocolate croissants we had in Florence. Kind customer service too. Will be coming back to this place!!
I cannot say enough good things about the marble cake Chef TJ crafted for me on short notice. Not only was I fitted into an already packed schedule, but the cake itself was a showstopper. The rich chocolate and smooth vanilla cake was perfect for our birthday celebration; with a stunning floral design and with cupcakes that made it as beautiful as it was delicious. Chef TJ’s talent and professionalism truly shine. I’m beyond grateful for the care, creativity, and flexibility. If you’re looking for a custom cake that wows both the eyes and the taste buds, Chef TJ is your person.
This is a cute little local cafe bakery and I’m glad we checked it out. It is conveniently located on the Main Street walk with lots of shops. They offer delicious croissant pastries that look like art, other breakfast items and coffee. We tried a raspberry cream croissant and morning bun which is like a cinnamon roll with croissant bread. Warmed up it was amazing. The ladies were very friendly and helpful the whole time we were there. The atmosphere itself is homey and has a local feel with crafts from local artists. Will definitely be back!
